The VIKINGS or NORSEMEN are primarily known as raiding warriors, called the ‘plague from the North’ by their contemporaries, but that is an incomplete picture. The Vikings (c. 800-1050 AD) were Scandinavian seafarers, but mainly traders who explored the rest of Europe and America from Norway, Denmark, and Sweden. Known for their longships, they carried out raids, established settlements, and engaged in trade.
